Who we are

Claire Holman, Founder (she/her)
After studying writing at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and freelancing for Maine Public Radio, Claire Holman realized she would have loved making radio back when she was a student at Lewiston High School. That led her to start Blunt Youth Radio in 1994. Getting to know so many smart and fascinating young people through Blunt Youth Radio has been an honor for her. Her day job is teaching French and Spanish at the University of Southern Maine, which is also a blast. She currently serves in an advisory capacity at Blunt.

Jess Miller, Facilitator (she/her)
Jess Miller first came to Portland as a student at the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in 2012 and is so glad to be making radio in Maine again. When she’s not working at Blunt, she produces podcast collaborations for PRX, including Plant People from The New York Botanical Garden and There’s More to That from Smithsonian Magazine. Locally, she also works as a broadcast announcer at Maine Public Radio and hosts Music for Houseplants on WMPG. Previous audio work includes WNYC, Slate, and more.
